called this "the green mile, betweenn avenue norwood drive in cumberland of troubled trees. five of them are coming down starting today. i look over there all the time but i will not go over there because it looks dangerous. >> ms. lee works in the area and chooses to walk across the street. she and many others say they are potential safety hazard. some are dead and others decayed, missing limbs or splintering. i remember one time after a the power lined hanging right in front of me almost walked right into in theuse the tree was line. the power maryland state highway administration decided just five need to be removed. they say the elm trees were by vehicle crashes or severe weather. officials say adding to the is drivers have hit hanging on the road. weather permitting, the work will start this morning at 9:00 around 3:00 this afternoon. the same on thursday and friday. during the time of this removal, there will be one northbound lane of wisconsin avenue that closed and drivers between cumberland and norwood. reporting live in chevy chase, jummy olabanji. thanks for that report.

60 and frederick at 50, cumberland to 46 degrees last night, winchester 54 and guess what. a lot of these places could be potentially cooler tonight. if high temperature today we got up to 77 degrees -- high temperature today, we got up to 77 degrees, average 82, definitely below average, dulles down to 76 and our bwi thurgood marshall temperature also in the 70s. so with average at 82, i think tomorrow we'll come in right around 78 degrees, so maybe a degree warmer than today. wednesday we're on the average button. we warm up a little by thursday to 85 degrees but still very dry air, no humidity expected and no showers expected. that continues for the workweek. our next chance of showers maybe this weekend probably sunday, but again that's not a huge chance either. temperatures right now very comfortable, 75 in the district, about the only place at 80 degrees is quantico. that tends to be a warm is for the, annapolis 76 degrees and cumberland down to 68 degrees. we will see these temperatures dropping quickly. i can see hagerstown down to 70 degrees. it won't take much more than an

next few days. 71 degrees at reagan national airport and 68 degrees in cumberland. the dew point are down -- 45 in cumberland. that is very dry relative to what we have been experiencing over the past couple of weeks. the humidity will be kept in check all week long. it is a little breezy as we transition to the comfortable air. you can open the windows and get that fresh air in the house and get it circulating, it is gusting up to about 21 miles per hour. we will see that continue for the next couple of hours until about 4:00. other than those patchy clouds, we don't have much to talk about. nice high pressure is giving us the sunshine and we are on the cool side. there is that clockwise rotation around high pressure but in the midwest, we are on the warm side. the cold front may pay us a visit this weekend but it is too early to tell. 78 degrees this afternoon will be the high temperature, a little breezy the next few hours and to night down in thein the 50's around the beltway. tomorrow will be lot like to day, in the upper 70's and load humidity. lower 80's wednesday-friday. humi

annapolis. cumberland was 36 degrees. the temperatures have risen in some spots by almost 40 degrees. we are getting a southerly breeze. that will be the story tomorrow also. nothing right now on doppler. those will pretty much dried up. tomorrow when you are heading off to school, it will not be the chilly morning it was this morning. 7:00 in the morning is the sunrise. i think it will be partly cloudy and temperatures into the high 70's. there will be outdoor recess tomorrow. >> every time it does rain, people get worried because of their streets and homes that flood. today, they got to meet with city officials on how to prevent that from happening again. did they really accomplish anything? >> the answer is no. i was inside city hall for hours and hours. one after another, more people talking about how they just cleaned out their bank trying to pay for all of these repairs. in several floods come up water up to her knees, her basement flooded twice. she just bought a house two years ago and she had to lean on her parents for help. she has spent $7,500 on home repairs in northwest d.c.
